ECP gears up for by-elections in over 60 NA seats in March

As the schedule for the 27 remaining NA seats will be blazoned coming week, all pending choices for National Assembly seats will be held in March, reported The News. The bean will take place on these seats in the last week of March. With this, all seats vacated by PTI members through adoptions would be filled through by- pates. The Election Commission of Pakistan( ECP) blazoned its schedule for holding pates on 33 seats first and also participated its plan for 31 further seats. No election will be possible from April till the completion of the term of NA in the third week of August this time. sources in the ECP told The News electoral body had stepped up its sweats for medications for the general choices in October/ November this time. The sources said that the ECP has got nothing to do with the polling date for the parochial assemblies when they're dissolved by the sitting government. The commission could suggest some dates in this regard but that isn't binding on the parochial governors, who are the sole judges for determining the date. The commission will be ready for holding choices of dissolved parochial assemblies, but certain specialized and indigenous conditions are to be taken into consideration before taking a decision, the sources said. The ECP, in its full- house meeting, decided to hold a series of consultations and reflections on the forthcoming pates and posterior general choices. The commission has convened a high- position meeting on Tuesday( Feb 7) to be attended by principal registers and Police IGs of Punjab and KPK. They will brief the commission on choices of parochial assemblies, National Assembly by- choices, law and order situation and other issues in their separate authorities on the occasion. Another ECP meeting would be held on the issue on February 9( Thursday). All stakeholders and political parties, including PTI and PML- Q, have been invited to the meeting, sources said. It'll bandy all aspects of peaceful choices of parochial assemblies, law of ethics and other indigenous and legal issues and get their feedback for icing transparent choices, the sources said. Omar Hameed Khan, ECP clerk, while briefing the commission, gave details on arrangements for the choices of parochial assemblies of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and by- choices to 86 constituencies of the National Assembly. He told the meeting that the registers of Lahore High Court and Peshawar High Court have been asked to give services of judicial officers for the forthcoming choices. The by- pates to 31 National Assembly constituencies will be held on March 19. An earlier election on 33 NA seats was blazoned to be held on March 16.
